Taxidermy
Your safari does not end when the hunt is over. We understand that your trophy is a lasting reminder of your African hunting experience, and we take great care to ensure that it is handled professionally from the field to the taxidermist.
WDJ Safaris can assist with the correct preparation, tagging and delivery of your trophies to a reputable taxidermist after your hunt. We work with experienced professionals who understand the requirements for African game and international clients.
Depending on your preference, trophies can be prepared as shoulder mounts, full mounts, skull mounts, skins or other custom displays. The taxidermist will discuss available options, pricing and estimated completion times directly with you.
For international hunters, we can also assist with the coordination of trophy documentation, dipping and packing, permits and export arrangements through the appropriate service providers.
Our aim is to make the process as smooth as possible so that, long after your safari, you can enjoy a professionally prepared reminder of your African hunting adventure.
Please note: Taxidermy, dipping, packing, shipping, export permits and related services are normally charged separately from the hunting safari unless specifically included in your package.

Is taxidermy included in the safari price?
Taxidermy and related services are generally not included in the hunting safari price unless specifically stated in your package. Taxidermy, dipping and packing, permits, freight and international shipping may be quoted separately.
What happens to my trophies after the hunt?
After the hunt, your trophies are carefully prepared and handled to preserve them for taxidermy. WDJ Safaris can assist with coordinating the next steps and arranging delivery to the appropriate taxidermy or trophy-handling service provider.
Can I choose my own taxidermist?
es. If you already have a preferred taxidermist or specific arrangements in place, please let us know before or during your safari so that the handling of your trophies can be coordinated accordingly.
What taxidermy options are available?
Depending on the species and your preferences, options may include shoulder mounts, pedestal mounts, full-body mounts, European or skull mounts, skins and other custom displays. Your chosen taxidermist can advise you on the available options and costs.
Can my trophies be shipped internationally?
Yes, trophies can be exported to many international destinations, subject to the relevant South African, destination-country and species-specific requirements. Specialist trophy shipping agents can assist with the necessary preparation, documentation and freight arrangements.
Who arranges the export permits and documentation?
Where permits or export documentation are required, these are normally coordinated with the appropriate taxidermist, dipping and packing facility, shipping agent or other specialist service provider. WDJ Safaris can help point you in the right direction and assist with coordinating the process.
What is dipping and packing?
Dipping and packing is the process used to prepare untreated trophies for export before they are shipped to a taxidermist in another country. This normally includes the required treatment, preparation and packing of the trophy for international transport.
